I just got my utilities bill. [a bill I sometimes round-up when I pay so the odd bill is lower than most]

$0.05 ... they billed me for five cents people.

The postage cost more!

I wonder if they'd cut my power if I didn't pay it.

::shakes head::

I've had a 61-cent balance with a brokerage firm for several years now (I sold some stock and cashed it out and I guess there was a difference between the time they sent it to me and the price at the end of the day or whatever). Every month I get a statement. EVERY MONTH, FOR YEARS. I occasionally think I should call them and ask them to send me my 61 cents...

Do you think that .61 has earned any interest? Maybe you could retire. :o)

I know someone that the 407 mailed bills to for months for a balance of $0.10.

The kicker was the long distance call from a collection agency telling this person that their account was overdue by 6 months, and there would be legal action if the bill was not paid in full ASAP.

When it was pointed out to said collection agency that the bill was for $0.10, and that the individual in question refused to pay more in service fees and stamps for mailing the cheque than for what was written on the cheque itself, there was a long pause on the other end of the phone. He was assured that the account would be reset, and that no other collection agencies would be harassing him over this. And none ever did. ;)
