Hi LiveJournal Land. Hey everybody,

I was wondering if any of the knowledgeable audiophiles on my friendslist like to suggest some obscure interesting music and/or songs I can use for a "documentary/trailer" I have to edit together for my Final Cut Pro class.

It's for "The Burning Man" event that happens every summer.
If you've heard about it - what kind of music could you imagine would go with it?

Peace Out

Well, I think you would actually probably want the types of music that might be listened to at Burning Man. I am, of course, nowhere near cool enough to know that.

I will say that, cliche 'burning' reference aside, Universal Hall Pass do a very cool cover of Ring of Fire. You can download it from their website here.

OMG. That is the coolest cover EVER!! Thank you so much!
If I don't use it in the project, I'll at least have it in my iTunes library!

I *love* that cover (and that they give it away!). Found it when I used to do Kingdom of Loathing--they had a player radio station with tons of cool music.

man, i'm not a knowledge audiophile by any means, but maybe some old school tangerine dream or brian eno? it's hard to say without seeing the clips, sorry!

Y'know, "Tangerine Dream" just might work.

Hmmmm... If you have the time to let some music just sort of play for you, you could try going to pandora.com, and putting in a song or artist you think might sort of fit (I agree w/the Brian Eno thing--also, random hippie music like Innagaddadavida might work, as well as various acid rock bands), and then let pandora pick you some recs based on that.

You'd have to go hunt down the songs then, since Pandora's not about downloading (though you can buy CDs and tracks through them by clicking on the art for the song), but it might be a way to identify some songs that are more obscure... I love pandora.com.

Hmmm, 'random hippie music' might work.
I'm going to see if I can find something in that vein.
Thanks darlin'!

:o) You're so cute!
It's going to be lame but I'll see if I can figure out how to save it to show it on the internet. :o)

Happy camera-ing!!!

Holy Crap! ThankYouThankYouThankYou!!!
Some of this stuff is awesome and perfect for different sections!
(and some are going straight into my iTunes library!!!)

What kind of time do you have to play with next week-end? Maybe Sunday?
(this week-end being a Father's Day one you're probably booked up.)
Wanna come out and play?

Thank you again for a great selection!!! And now, back to The Burning Man.
(Dude, there is so a PopSlash plot in there somewhere!!! I swear Kirkpatrick would go fucking nuts at this thing.)
