Chicago is kind of a bitch to live in, but there's definitely enough cool stuff in terms of museums and whatnot to keep you busy and happy for a couple of days after the dealie. I don't know if it still is, but Newtown used to be the gay district, and it was chock full of cool shops and whatnot.

Also--do you like the blues? The music, I mean. Chicago is God's own home of the blues--I can find names of blues clubs if you're interested. There's just nothing like it out here, at least not in the states. We're too mellow to really get the blues or something, I don't know.

I don't know yet, if I'm going. There are big financial problems I have to resolve before I can even consider such a thing, so I don't know. But if I do, I'd love to take you 'round the blues club circuit.

Oops, that other reply was supposed to go to your first comment.
Yes, I really enjoy the blues. And YES!! Chicago's the place to be for the real good stuff. Wouldn't be surprised if JC doesn't surface at a local blues club or two during the CFTC week-end.

Eeep! I hope the financial problems are resolvable!!! (whether you decide to go or not!) But if you do decide to go and need a roomie, y'know....and, yes, I'd love to do the club circuit with you!

I'm going to be an uber tourist/fangirl/conventioneer:o) and only see the sparkly things the city pulls out to shows its visitors.
I am remaining blissfully ignorant to any of the town's short comings. [unless tossed into something too terrible to ignore]

But, y'know, what city doesn't get that kinda rep. from time to time. As much as I'm in love with Vancouver, it's a real bitch to live in too sometimes.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I live in Chicago (actually in the city and not in some icky suburb) and I can personally say that it is awesome here. I've been all over and can honestly say that I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I personally volunteer to be the tour guide for people who want to see the REAL chicago. We're awesome.

That's awesome! It's a date darlin'! The pictures I googled sure changed my mind about the city they picked!! I have to be honest - I was hoping for something tropical and hot. Not so...metropolitain? It looks like a fantastic city to take a million pictures of. I want to see everything I can.

I'll be doing my homework and sending you my tour site list. LOL

Okay, checked flight prices.. so far the cheapest is £600!! Hello??! Even Miami wasn't that expensive! *lol* Lucky they've given me so much advance notice so i can save some cash! *lol* I just hope i can swing it next summer, as i really want to go to Australia next November, but i also want to finally meet you guys and get to CFTC again!
Nov. 23rd, 2004 02:04 pm (UTC)
£600!! YIKES!! That's a wee bit steep isn't it!!!
Wow! You've got a couple of major trips planned!
But, YaY, you're still considering CFTC!
If we do both manage to make it to Chicago we must, must, must find each other and have a drink or something together!!!

::crosses fingers that we both can swing it!!!!!::

That's not to mention my trip to Las Vegas and NYC next month! I think i need a part-time job to go along with my full-time one.... either that or a big lotto win! *lmao*

But yep, we will definately meet up for a beverage or two if we both get to Chicago next summer!
