I'm just sayin'...

withdiamonds' post tonight has inspired me to post an opinion I've held since way back when NSYNC first announced their hiatus....

Bands break up. It happens.

When I think about all the time we spend speculating about NSYNC's future, I can't help but think about The Eagles.
The Eagles broke up years ago. [and from what I understand, it wasn't pretty]
But from that breakup came a couple of major solo careers. Joe Walsh. Don Henley. Glen Fry.
When The Eagles broke up it was for ever. The members were quoted saying something to the effects of:

"Hell would freeze over before they ever recorded together again."

Well, y'know what...
"The Hell Freezes Over Tour" was fantastic!! I had the most amazing seats!
thank you bossymarmalade!
They were awesome!!! They played their "group" hits and backed one another up on their "solo" hits. It was like going to five concerts in one!

Bands break up. It happens. Artists move on. It happens.
Successful solo careers are lunched from successful groups. That happens.
And sometimes, these famous solo artists find the right time and the right tunes one day, and they record them with their old band mates. That happens too.

NSYNC may or may not record another album together again any time soon, but we've got five talented and interesting solo artists to watch until they find that right time and those right tunes.

I'm willing to wait, are you?

I would be, if they would just admit that this hiatus thing was gonna be a long-term scenario, instead of insisting that they're always working that that ellusive next album that never quite makes it into the studio.

sorry to butt in but...

Their stories are getting a little thin aren't they
I tell you, I would love it if they would just:
1.)Make up their minds about whether they're making another album at all.
2.)Be more forthcoming with details about it.
3.)Acknowledge that their indecision (in-fighting?) is making the fans crazy and that they hope to have some more info soon.
We'll take any bone they throw at us at this point I think.
4.)Stop saying their working on something when it seems pretty obvious they're not.
5.)Just go in and record the damn thing already! :o)
haven't they all said they've been writing while on hiatus?

Until then, I support them as individuals. That's all I can do for now.
My getting annoyed with their fence-sitting isn't going to get them into the studio any faster (that's assuming they're ever going to at all)

Re: Their stories are getting a little thin aren't they
I definitely support them as individuals, I just wish they wouldn't keep stringing along *NSync fans. I'll still like Justin or JC if they're not from *NSync. I'd probably like them a little more because I'd actually know something.

And I don't even think they need to give a reason for an album delay. I'd be happy with a "we're not feeling it right now, so we're working on other stuff for the forseeable future." Just final yes or know.

JC and Joey have said something kinda sorta like that, right after CFTC and the break up rumors started (again). I guess they should be more offical about it, but I took them saying that was good news.

From the album....
"For the record, we never broke up, we just took a fourteen year vacation."

Which is a line that fills me with both hope and despair. Because, honestly, no: I'm not willing to wait. That's what I'll end up doing, because (barring me waking up with the supernatural ability to light a fire under their collective asses) there's nothing else of any significance I can do, but it won't be willingly.

Re: From the album....
And yeah, I've also been thinking of the similarity between these two groups for a while now.

Re: From the album....
Can I say that 'great minds think alike'?
If the Eagles can do it, the boys can too.
!!I just hope with all my heart that it doesn't take 14 years before they do!!

and now I'm very sad

Re: From the album....
I hear you! And you're absolutely right - there is nothing any of us can do to 'light a fire under their collective asses'. Unless you've got an idea?
I'm, perhaps foolishly keeping optimistic that they'll record together again but until then, there's the five of them to watch grow and succeed as solo artists.

that's a great way of looking at it, and hell yeah I'm willing to wait!!!

I really really want another *NSYNC album!
And I'd like it as of yesterday please! :o)
But it's pretty obvious that they're nowhere near ready to do that. Who knows if they ever will be.

I think we're pretty lucky to see them branch out and become individuals. To follow their solo careers and support them as they establish themselves in the music world without the others. I'll always love the guys together but seeing them diversify is exciting too.

But it can't hurt to put "a new NSYNC CD" on a Christmas wish list, can it?

Of course I am, I'm a fan. But that doesn't make it any easier, and it doesn't mean they WILL get back together just because I'm willing to wait.
Sep. 19th, 2004 01:37 pm (UTC)
You got that right. None of this waiting is easy.
And their avoiding the truth is making it worse it seems.
If there's bad blood between them, let it be known.
It happens to the best groups and fans 'survive'.
If the rest of "the guys hate Justin" right now so be it.
Just tell us something before we all chew and claw each other to death on LJ.

ohhh..chewing and clawing could be interesting *wink*
