Why can't I be spending 16 hours straight at a job I like. These fucking students are so ungrateful it turns my stomach. Ungrateful sacs of pus!

And I get to do it all again, all week-end. Happy long week-end to me.

Are they at least going to pay for a cab ride home from the skytrain? It's dark eh! How much longer are you going to be there?

A 2D Animation class that blew BOTH</i> it's deadline extensions and has ABSOLUTELY NO.TIME.LEFT before their edit sessions start.

::kicks spoiled pampered pricks and prickettes::

To add insult to injury, the bosses all fucked off early to start their long week-ends. And they get paid the big bucks.

::shakes head::

Ok, that's just silly. So the administration thinks this is a good idea? *shakes head* It's not like they'll get that kind of pampering in the business world, so it's such a huge mistake to build those kind of expectations in academia. Not to mention the toll on staff.

A friend of mine used to teach econ, and she used to just go nuts at exam time. She was such a good teacher, but the whining and bad papers and whatnot.

Anyway, this kid comes to her three days before finals, and says he's no way going to be able to study for both her exam and the LSATs (law school admittance exam, but probably you knew that), and could he take her test a week later. She lost it on him, in her cool, collected way.

She basically said, "So, imagine, unlikely though it may be, that you actually pass this class, and the LSATs, and that you actually make it through law school, and pass the boards. You have two briefs due to two different judges on the same day, and you've planned your time badly, so you're not ready. Do you imagine that you can go to the judges and say, oopsie, so sorry, I'm not ready, and they'll just let you slide? No. No extension. Get it together and be here for the exam."

*grin* She was a demon when you fucked with her. But really, it's true. And you're not doing anyone any favors in letting them believe differently.

*hugs you* Take care, OK? And get home safe.

I cannot believe the nerve of that student! No wait, I can. I've got a hot shot in this class just like that - and Admin is catering to his every demand because 'he's a brilliant artist'. Fuck that shit!
Get your work done on time and then I'll call you brilliant. What these people are doing is showing a total lack of respect. Grrrr!!!Anyway...Thanks for the hugs sweetie.
And say, isn't this week-end the week-end you're on call?

Yeah, and that was, I dunno, maybe twelve years ago? I think professors and teachers were still given permission to hold students accountable then. I don't know how it is in Canada, but more and more teachers get in trouble if they are too strict with students. Fear of lawsuits, and of scaring away students the schools need the money from, I think. It's very, very fucked up.

And yeah, I'm on call. Tonight just until 8 and then from 11 to 8 tomorrow, and from 10 to 2 Sunday. Hopefully they won't need me--I haven't had to be called in yet for this show. *knock wood*

It's only the box office I provide support to off hours. The production and tech folks aren't as reliant on computer stuff for the actual show. They have huge needs getting it together, but once it's actually running, they're mostly off the PCs and running around the theater like mad, so they don't need me. It's if the box office's internet connection crashes, and they can't get to the database that has all the seating and ticketing info, or the credit card server, that we have a problem. So far, like I said, it's been pretty quiet.

So I'm stranded at my apartment, but not necessarily working. I'm hoping to get some quality time with Uru tomorrow, to bust past this one stupid puzzle that's stopping me from getting on with the game.

*grins* Wheee! It's great being a grownup sometimes. Well, a single, childless grownup. I mean, there are disadvantages and stuff I miss out on, but there are some upsides to it, too.

Good luck, OK? Both staying awake, and refraining from homocide. The little punks aren't worth the jail time...
