more useful time wasting:

Poll #286072 friends

Why do you "friend" people?

I see repeated posts refering to them and always enjoy what I read.
While looking through friends of friends I occaisionally find someone with similar interests that I'd like to know personally.
Because they always post the best pictures and gossip and downloads, man!

Do you "friend" people back as soon as you are "friended"?

Yes, immediately and post a hello welcoming them into my LJ world
After I've checked out their bios and journals first to see what we have in common.
No, I'm a BNF. I don't need to.

How often do you check if you've been "friended" or "de-friended"?

Every day.
Once in a while
Never think of it

Why do you "defriend" people?

Journal inactivity.
They "defriended" me.
Personal conflict.

Why do you "friends lock" your journal?

Never do.
Don't know how
To avoid potential kerfuffles and/or personal attacks?

How many people on your "friends" list would you like to meet in person? (that you haven't met yet)

Every single one of them.
Half of them.
A handful I've really gotten close to.

Are you sad that "Friends" is going off the air?

I'm taking time off to mourn!
I think it's run its course.
Thank God it's finally over!

bwahaha..no way in hell I'm touching this poll...no way in hell! (and most of the options don't really quite fit anyway for me...and you know most of the answers anyway)

and you know most of the answers anyway

...yeah, I know. *smooch*

Most of those questions should have "all of the above" or "none of the above" as an option. ;-)

LOL. They can all apply at one time or another can't they?

You forgot one for the "friends locked" option: to keep real life nosy people out of my fannish world. :)

Oooo. That didn't even occur to me. Good one!

I have alternate answers again:

The friends function is so easy to use in Semagic that it's just habit to check that quick, any time I fire up the client.

I've defriended for all three reasons you listed, actually, so that one would have been cool to have as a "pick as many as you want" option...

I friends lock when I'm posting something that I don't want to get out to the non-LJ community--family, friends, co-workers.

I couldn't be less interested in Friends, seriously, for good or for bad. It's OK, it's just not on my radar at all. *grin*

Sorry to sound dumb, but what's that?

cool to have as a "pick as many as you want" option...

hee. That's a good idea. Gonna have to find another topic to poll.

when I'm posting something that I don't want to get out

Yeah, somebody else posted a similar comment. Never even occured to me.

I couldn't be less interested in Friends

Same here. I watched it faithfully the first season, maybe two then, whatever.

ps: Hope I'm not out of line here but I just wanted you to know that I downloaded your 'Shiny Teeth' recording the other day and I LOVED it but didn't have time to send you an email about it.

(Semagic) Sorry to sound dumb, but what's that?

Ooooh, a chance to pimp!

It's a client for updating LJ, which is so cool and awesome and I love it.

General stuff about clients here: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=158

And stuff about Semagic and downloading and installing it here: http://semagic.sourceforge.net/

And thank you for the feedback about the song! I love it so much, and since I'm singing it in a much lower key in the show, I sort of feel like the mp3 I made of it was my shot at getting at least a few people to hear it the way it should be. *sigh*

Internetally challenged over here.....I went, I stared. I stared some more. I'm not sure what all that meant.

And I'm on an archaic little iMac. I didn't see anything in there that mentioned macs. Did I miss it?

I'm singing it in a much lower key

I'd love to hear that too!

Ah. Yeah, he didn't make Semagic for the Mac, just for PCs. Here's the page with the Mac clients--since I don't have a Mac, I can't test them and tell you which one I like best.

Because I think my answer 'never' is misleading I feel the need to clarify, lol. Obviously, I check out my friends/defriends, but I'm pretty rare/random about it. If I notice the number on my userinfo has gone up/down signifantly, than yeah, I check out to see whos or whats what.

Never mind that I'm compulsive about reading comments and checking out icons and examining poll results and lurking friendsfriends. There's so much more to be obsessive about than my own stats, persay,

As for who'd I like to meet? Well, there's the handful that I want to meet one on one just because I've gotten close to the person and I want to hog them up all for myself. Then there's the people who I'd love to meet in a fandom/concert/group setting just because I think it would be fun. That number is closer to half or all.

And 'personal conflict' stems from me getting bored to just flat out annoyed. I don't defriend that often, but it's usually pretty mutual when it happens.

Um, yeah. Like you needed all that. lol

LOL It's very cool that you left comments. Thank you!

*sniffle*I answered four, but the other answers are not applicable! But then, I don't really use my journal for real life things; maybe that has something to do with it. Ah well.

Thanks for answering the four you did. :o)
