Thank you so much to i_naiad who was passing through and said that there's video of Firefighter David Tree and the pretty bewildered koala.

FF David Tree + koala + three bottles of water = kindness.

Australian Red Cross sure could use some help.

Koala's are not the friendliest critters at the best of times so you know this is a dire situation. This horrific fire is such a tragedy.

Aww. Man. I saw the photo yesterday, and something someone said there (where-ever I saw it, can't remember...) I agree with--it's such a sweet scene, but it's also really sad, because they're not generally friendly animals. How shocked and worn must he be, to accept petting and someone that close to him. Poor thing.

The whole situation there is just so devastating.

Totally true. They are little Grumpy McGrumpersons at the best of times, so yeah, he's dazed and confused and just wants to survive. I tear up at the thought of all of this devastation. Tragic.
